Tadeusz Steckiewicz, President and General Manager of the Mint of Poland
A considerable recognizability of the Mint of Poland’s brand abroad as well as the establishment of the first Polish direct marketing company – Skarbiec Mennicy Polskiej S.A. – are in the view of the President of the Mint of Poland, Tadeusz Steckiewicz, his greatest professional successes of the past years. The brand is well-known abroad because of active participation of the Mint of Poland in several international minting programs. The Polish, on the other hand, are familiar with the name Skarbiec Mennicy Polskiej, as the company was the first in Poland to put attractive coins on sale through the Internet.
And what are the challenges for the upcoming years according to the President? First, to maintain the market position of the Mint of Poland in Poland; second, to further develop its position on international markets.
Tadeusz Steckiewicz has been President and General Manager of the Mint of Poland since 24 June 2003. Before, from December 2001 to March 2003, he was Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Treasury. He has considerable experience in company management – in the years 1990–2000 he was Vice-President and General Manager of “Imperson” in Warsaw; the company engaged in international trade.
The President of the Mint of Poland is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw. In the years 1980–1990 he worked for various social organizations as well as the state administration. For three terms of office he was town councilor in Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Privately, he loves fishing (he even took part in a Europe Championship); he also has a passion for tourism and history, especially the history of the interwar period.
