  • November
On November 15, 2009 (Sunday) between 8.00 a.m. and 02.00 p.m. the 18th Numismatic Exhibition – Coin Fair MONETARIUM took place in the patio of the AURUM building of the Mint of Poland.

  • October
Thousands of collectors visited the stand of the Mint of Poland and the Treasury of the Mint of Poland during Coin Expo 2009 Fair, which took place on October 15-16 in the Palace of Culture and Science.

  • September
Seven coins from the Mint of Poland were awarded in the competition of collector’s coins Coin Constellation in Petersburg. This is a great success because this year 176 coins were entered into the competition from 21 countries, including Russia, Australia, Denmark, Great Britain, Spain, Poland, and France.

  • July
The Mint of Poland played host to the President Lech Wałęsa again.
This year in Gdańsk we had the honor of entertaining the President Lech Wałęsa. This unique guest visited the stand of the Mint of Poland in the capital of Tricity and minted Gdańsk ducats with the use of an antique press from the 19th century.
It was the first time in the history of the Mint of Poland when this antique press left Warsaw in order to mint ducats in Gdańsk. In the heart of Tricity, we were honored to present the assets of this device to the head of our country. These events took place at St. Dominic’s Fair, the largest outdoor event in Europe.

  • June
A day before the historic anniversary of the election of June 4, 1989, the Mint of Poland and the City of Gdańsk organized press conference dedicated to Gdańsk Thaler issued in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Regaining Freedom and the Fall of Communism in Central Europe. A honorary guest was the former President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Lech Wałęsa, and the President of Gdańsk, Mr. Paweł Adamowicz.

Since June 3, it has been possible to pay for tickets and purchase credit on Municipal Card System with your debit cards in all 64 ticket vending machines of the Mint of Poland. Buyers are not charged with any additional fees.

For several days now, residents of Wrocław and tourists visiting the Capital of Lower Silesia may use Local Ducats. They may be exchanged into goods and services in designated places around the city or kept as a souvenir.
Wrocław joined the elite group of cities which introduced local ducats into circulation. 30 thousand ducats of 7 PLN each were issued; they were minted by the best manufacturers of the Mint of Poland at the city’s commission. The ducats may be exchanged to goods and services of 7 PLN value in designated places in the city. Apart from circulating ducats, the Mint of Poland also minted 1000 silver collectors Wrocław Ducats.

  • May
During the night of May 16, 2009 the next edition of the Long Night of Museums  took place. The Numismatic Cabinet actively joined the action again. Between 07.00 p.m. and 01.00 a.m. nearly 2,500 people visited the Museum of the Mint of Poland. Just like every year, lots of attractions waited for our guests.
Visitors to the Numismatic Cabinet could see the permanent exhibition of coins and medals minted in our Mint since the times of the king S. A. Poniatowski until now. A lot of them are very rare specimens that many collectors are interested in.
During the Long Night of Museums, a coin manufacturer minted tokens with the image of Zbigniew Boniek, the central figure of the latest coin from the “Kings of Football” series.

On May 24, 2009 the Collector’s Fair Monetarium took place for the seventeenth time. The event was organized in the Aurum building by the Mint of Poland together with Warsaw Numismatic Center.
During Monetarium, nearly 50 companies and private collectors exhibited their collections, products, and accessories. Apart from Polish exhibitors, guests from Lithuania were present as well.
During each Monetarium fair the images of coins issued by the National Bank of Poland in the nearest planned issues are presented. This time coins from the following issues were presented: “The History of Polish Popular Music – Czesław Niemen”, “Polish Road to Freedom – Elections on 4th June, 1989”, and “Polish Painters of the 19th and 20th Century – Władysław Strzemiński”. Those who visited the Numismatic Cabinet were the first visitors to see these coins; all of the coins carry the inscription “Trial.”
