Show-case 2, 2006

The Warsaw Mint during the reign of Stanisław August.

 

Presented are: copy of a drawing of the Mint's facade from year 1766, a stamp and medals made to commemorate monetary reform in the year 1766 and Mint's inauguration. Matrix for the medal "Merentibus" with the king's portrait. The author of those stamps, as most of the stamps for coins and medals of Stanisław August was Jan Filip Holzhaeusser, a Saxon descent. He was the Mint's main medalist, and court medalist of the king. In this show-case, presented are also coins and medals from the years of 1766-1794.
