Certificates for the silver coins of the National Bank of Poland and numismats of the Mint of Poland Treasury
Beginning with April, all the silver coins of the National Bank of Poland offered by the Mint of Poland will be equipped with bilingual certificates.
The very same Mint of Poland Treasury introduced certificates confirming authenticity, quality, origin and technical characteristics of its numismats.
The certificates which are attached to the silver coins of the National Bank of Poland are signed by the President of the Mint of Poland, Tadeusz Steckiewicz. They are protected against forgery (the company decided not to disclosed the techniques of protection). The Mint of Poland is the only one real mint in the territory of Poland which issues coins at the order of the National Bank of Poland. It is a guarantee of the quality of the coins and the security of the minting process.
Also the subsidiary company of the Mint of Poland, the Mint of Poland Treasury introduced the certificates in March. The documents certifying the authenticity and the bullion content in numismats were made by the Polish Security Printing Works. The Mint of Poland Treasury attaches them to its products as a response to the situation on the numismatic market – there appeared numerous companies which pretend to be the mint and issue low-quality tokens calling them minting numismats. The certificate is made on a special paper win an individual watermark. Following the announcement of the Polish Security Printing Works, this way of protection of the certificate makes its delivery similar to the protection of the delivered banknote.
The Mint of Poland was established in 1766 by the Polish king Stanisław August Poniatowski (as a Warsaw Mint). For over 240 years, the designers and minters of the company have been perfecting the techniques of coins, numismats and medals minting. Currently, the Mint of Poland is the one and only issuer of all the circulation and collector coins for the National Bank of Poland as well as numerous national banks of other countries. Additionally, with the use of state-of-the-art minting techniques, it also issues numismats of the Mint of Poland Treasury as well as its own.
