Coins of the Mint of Poland in Havana

The inhabitants of Cuba have recently had the opportunity to see an exhibition organised by the Mint of Poland in cooperation with the Embassy of the Polish Republic in Havana.

The exhibition was an excellent occasion for admirers of numismatics to see coins struck by the Mint of Poland in recent years, in particular those bearing an image of Frédéric Chopin (produced in relation with the ongoing celebration of the Chopin Year).

"A harmonious and balanced combination of metal with other elements suited to the coin’s design and message, where the concept of a work of art never departs from the form of a coin. Each element has its proper place and does not seek to diminish the role of the other elements, which is maybe what makes these innovative coins so attractive", said Inés Morales García in an article published in a quarterly of the Central Bank of Cuba and entitled "Polish Numismatics on the Onset of the 21st Century".

The director of the Numismatic Museum, Sergio González García, expressed his respect and admiration for the excellent achievements of the Mint of Poland staff involved in the production of coins and for the outstanding information accompanying the releases.

The exhibition was part of a programme of cultural events geared towards Cuban families. The coins of the Mint of Poland could be seen in Havana between 4 May and 30 August.
