Record-breaking interest in gold from the Mint of Poland
Client count of the Mint of Poland interested in buying investment gold grew by four times in the recent days.
The record holder decided to buy astonishing 27 kilograms of gold (the purchase value amounted to about 3 million Polish zloty). The interest in gold is connected with the Greek economy crisis and the “Golden ounce” program carried out by the Company. The Greek crisis as well as fear about conditions of other eurozone economies weakened the European currency at the beginning of May and lead indexes to fall on global stock exchanges. During a crisis, whenever investors turn away from currencies and capital markets, the demand for gold and its price increases. Furthermore, the Mint of Poland carries out the „Golden ounce” program for the past few weeks, in which it encourages individuals to systematically invest their available funds in gold. The Mint of Poland is the biggest stock exchange gambler on investment gold market in Poland open to natural persons. The estimated value of this market is 500-600 kg per year.
