"The Rest Is in Your Hands" – photo coverage from the Mint of Poland
On January 14, we were honored to host Unicef Goodwill Ambassadors, the employees of this organization and the media.
The opportunity arose with the dawn of the second stage of the “Rest Is in Our Hands” action in the framework of which each of us, while doing ordinary shopping, may ask to be given the change in circulation Good Ducats. Total gain from the action will be transferred to Unicef. The mint of Poland stroke one million of brass Good Ducats which are offered in more than one million shops across Poland.
In order to make this event even more ceremonial character, the actors Magdalena Różczka and Piotr Żmijewski stroke the first symbolic Good Ducats. They were accompanied by journalists. Later on, during the press conference, we had the opportunity to say a few words about the action.
- We select the shop marked with the action logotype , do the shopping and ask for the change to be given in Good Ducats at the checkout. We pay, receive the Ducats and, what is more important, keep them as souvenirs. They constitute enormous help for us – says Magdalena Hernandez, an executive director of UNICEF Polska at the press conference opening the campaign explaining its idea.
4 Good Ducats are the equivalent of 4 Polish zloty.
4 Polish zloty is sufficient to purchase, for example, 8 vaccines against polio, 27 sachets with anti-dehydration medicine, 3 notebooks and pencils or 4 high-calorie meal for malnourished children.
The campaign is supported by Magdalena Różczka – a new UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Together with Artur Żmijewski, a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador with a few-year experience, opened “The Rest Is in Your Hand” action by personally starting the production of the Mint of Poland’s Good Ducats.
- It’s a kind of help which is just for the asking, 4 zloty seems to be the amount that we can donate for the children being aware, at the same time, of how measurable this help is – said Ms. Różczka convincingly.
Artur Żmijewski emphasized the fact that the children who are helped by UNICEF do lack basic means of support. – They don’t fight to get well, they fight to survive. Everyone was shocked with the recent earthquake news from Haiti where more than 100 thousand people lost their lives. In Ethiopia, more than 100 thousand children before the age of 5 die of malnutrition every year – said the actor.
