Unissued coin projects now as numismats
The Mint of Poland issued extraordinary, long-awaited by the numismat enthusiasts collector sets with the images of unissued coin projects from the interwar period.
The numismats were created on the basis of the occasional coin projects sent to the contest organized in 1933 by the National Mint on the occasion of the approaching 250th anniversary of the Battle of Vienna and the 20th anniversary of the debouchment of the First Cadre Company. Several dozens of projects were sent in among which only two designs which were later issued were selected and on their, on the basis of which, 10-zloty coins were minted in 1934.
The remaining projects survived only in the form of designs. Only a small circle of numismat enthusiasts knew about them. The most important of them may now be admired on numismat collector sets.
The Mint of Poland issued 4 variants of sets. All of them are packed in elegant wooden cases with quality certificates guarantying the Mint of Poland’s quality and artistry.
The set commemorating Józef Piłsudski was issued in two variants: silver and gold. Each contains two numismats packed in elegant wooden cases with quality certificates guarantying the Mint of Poland’s quality and artistry.
The set with the image of Jan III Sobieski was also issued in both silver and gold variant; however, each of them contains 4 numismats.
Silver sets were issued in the number of 1000 pieces, the gold ones – only in the number of 50 sets. Each of them includes an information brochure with detailed description of each numismat and the history of contests for the interwar period coins designs.
The sets are a numismatic curiosity for all the coin collectors making them a perfect complementation of interwar circulation and occasional coin collections.
