''Łódki'' with Miś Uszatek Already Available in Łódź
Miś Uszatek and his friends are now engaged in the promotion of Łódź. The city is starting the emission of Local Ducats called "Łódki".
‘Ducats with an image of Miś Uszatek will evoke associations with Łódź as a centre of the film industry’, says Jerzy Kropiwnicki, the President of Łódź, the city that is the emitter of „Łódki”. – ‘Thanks to this well-known protagonist of an animated TV series produced by Semafor, an animation studio based in Łódź, adult tourists will have a chance to symbolically return to the times of their childhood, and children – to try to count all the attractions that this precious coin can buy’, adds the President.
Images of Miś Uszatek and his companions will appear on three kinds of ducats. The first of these is made of brass and has the face value of “3 Łódki”. This means it can be purchased for 3 PLN and exchanged for goods and services that are worth 3 PLN The Mint of Poland has struck only 20 thousand of such coins.
The minters have also prepared 20 thousand bi-metal ducats, i.e. coins that are made of two kinds of metal. Their face value is 7 “Łódek”, which means they will be sold for 7 PLN.
Both the brass and bi-metal coins have been decorated using the so-called “angle effect”. When looked at from different angles, “Łódki” display different scenes related to the adventures of Miś Uszatek and his friends.
In addition, to cater for the needs of collectors, the Mint of Poland has also emitted silver ducats with the face value of “104 Łódki”. These not only make use of the angle effect, but have also been painted using the pad printing technique. These silver ducats are only of collector interest as they cannot be exchanged for any goods or services. Their face value is a reference to the number of episodes in “Miś Uszatek” series.
