The most modern Polish stadiums to be struck on coins!
The Mint of Poland, in an attempt to bring new images of stadiums, decided to issue a series of collector coins, “Polish Stadiums 2012”. The first will depict the PGE Arena in Gdańsk. This modern sports facility, designed specifically for very important sports events, will seat 44,000 supporters. The coin “Gdańsk” was issued on 24 June 2010.
The Mint of Poland, in cooperation with the issuer, Niue Island, will feature on the upcoming coins the likenesses of the stadiums in Wrocław, Poznań and Warsaw.
The series becomes additionally numismatically attractive through an interesting design, a unique subject and the blank made of silver Ag 925. The total mintage will not exceed 20,000 for each coin.

PGE Arena Gdańsk (previously the Baltic Arena) is a modern football facility to be built in the district of Letnica. Compared to other stadiums it ensures excellent visibility, which has been accomplished as a result of eliminating all viewing obstacles (pillars, etc.). The tiers will seat some 44,000 supporters, including 40 special VIP boxes (containing sofas, bars, music) and 1385 business seats. The dimensions of the stadium are: 236 m long, 203 m wide and 45 m high. Amber and maritime trade traditions of Gdansk became an inspiration for the designers of the stadium and determined the shape of the roof and its structure. Around the facility there will be two promenades, and under the upper tier the following will be housed: a sports museum, bars and restaurants, fan shops and toilets. The pitch lighting (2000 lux) will ensure that games will be transmitted in HDTV.
