World Expo 2010 Shanghai China commemorative coins (series II), 10 CNY

Obverse:
The common obverse of all coins depicts the emblem of World Expo 2010 Shanghai withe the background of the Earth (partially colored), the title of the People’s Republic of China and the year date.

Reverse:
The reverse of one silver coin depicts the silhouette of human, blooming flowers and abstract design symbolizing science and technology, the words „World Expo 2010 Shanghai China” in Chinese and the face value; the reverse of the other silver coin depicts silhouette of doves, blooming flowers and abstract design symbolizing the universe, the words „World Expo 2010 Shanghai China” in Chinese and the face value.

On 2002.12.03 China successfully won the bid to host the World Exposition (World Expo) in its city of Shanghai in 2010. The World Expo, started in London in 1851 under the title „Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations”, was the first international exhibition of manufactured products. As time progresses, it now embodies three important elements: new inventions, to facilitate cultural exchange based on a theme, an are used for city, region and nation branding.
