Obverse:

In the center, on the glass core, there is an image of a man blowing glassware and an inscription in the rim of the core: POLSKIEGO OSADNICTWA W AMERYCE PÓŁNOCNEJ to be read on the reverse. There is an image of the map of Virginia on the ring, and the inscription at the top: WIRGINIA placed on a sash. There are images of settlers on the left-hand side of the core and images of Native Americans at the right. Below the core, there is an image of the eagle established as a state emblem of the Republic of Poland. There is a notation of the year of issue on the left-hand side: 2008. On the right-hand side there is an inscription: 10/ZŁ, and at the bottom a semicircular inscription: RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA. There is a mint mark at the eagle’s left leg.

Reverse:

In the center of the glass core there is an image of a man blowing glassware and an inscription in the rim: POLSKIEGO OSADNICTWA W AMERYCE PÓŁNOCNEJ. On the both sides of the core there are images of men smelting glass. There are images of a ship and newly-arrived settlers above the core. Below the core, there is an inscription: JAMESTOWN, placed on a sash, and another inscription below: 400. ROCZNICA.

W październiku 1608 r., wkrótce po założeniu pierwszej kolonii angielskiej na wschodnim wybrzeżu Ameryki Północnej, na Nowy Kontynent przybyli także polscy osadnicy. Zapoczątkowali tym samym nie tylko powstanie wieloetnicznej Wirginii, ale również późniejszych Stanów Zjednoczonych Ameryki – kraju założonego i zamieszkałego przez potomków emigrantów – w tym polskich – którzy na tej ziemi szukali i szukają nadal „ziemi obiecanej”. Zgodnie z tradycją osadnictwa polskiego pierwsi polscy rzemieślnicy na ziemi amerykańskiej to najprawdopodobniej: smolarze, potrafiący wyrabiać nie tylko węgiel drzewny, ale także smołę, potaż oraz dziegieć, czyli towary niezbędne do budowy i eksploatacji żaglowców, bednarze produkujący beczki, w których przechowywano produkty żywnościowe, a także szklarze. Ci ostatni mieli zbudować pierwszy piec do wytopu naczyń szklanych (butelek, słojów), wytwarzali szyby do powstających w osadzie drewnianych domów oraz paciorki szklane na wymianę z Indianami za kukurydzę i tytoń.
