A silver commemorative 10-zloty coin struck for the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Society for the Care of the Blind.


Obverse:
On the right-hand side, partly against the background of a stylized labyrinth, the image of the eagle established as the state emblem of the Republic of Poland. At the left-hand side of the eagle, on a separated surface, the nominal value of the coin in the Braille alphabet. At the bottom an inscription: 10 ZŁ. Along the rim an inscription: RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA 2011 (REPUBLIC OF POLAND 2011). Under the eagle, on the right-hand side, the symbol of the mint: M/W.

Reverse:
In the center, a stylized image of a labyrinth. Against the background of the labyrinth, on the right-hand side, stylized images of two figures one of which is holding a white cane used by the blind. On the right-hand side, in semicircle, images of six stars. On the left-hand side, a semicircular inscription: EUROPA BEZ BARIER (EUROPE WITHOUT BARRIERS).
On the edge an inscription: 100-lecie Towarzystwa Opieki nad Ociemniałymi. (100th anniversary of the Society for the Care of the Blind).

The Polish Association of the Blind is one of over 5000 non-governmental public benefit organizations registered in Poland. Due to a great number of its members, it is the most representative association of the blind and visually impaired.

PAB is a self-help organization founded by the blind themselves, acting for the benefit of the blind and managed by themselves. It engages in various types of activity for the benefit of people who suffer from social exclusion due to the loss of eyesight.
In 2011, the 6th anniversary of the foundation of the Polish Association of the Blind – the biggest association of the blind and visually impaired – was celebrated.
The blind and visually impaired engage in such activities as: recitation, theatre, music, singing, sculpture, and in the case of the visually impaired - also painting.
