A faithful gold replica of one of the rarest collector coins in the history of post-war Poland – the PLN 200,000 coin from 1987 with an image of John Paul II, of the weight of 331 g (10 oz).


The coin commemorates the 5th anniversary of the death of the Polish Pope and the 90th anniversary of his birth, both falling in 2010.
Each replica is packaged in an exclusive wooden box specially designed for this exceptional product.

Obverse:
The image of an eagle established as the national emblem of the People’s Republic of Poland (PRL). On the sides the year of mintage: 1987, under the left foot of the eagle the symbol of the mint: m/w. Below the face value: 200 000 zł. Along the rim an inscription: POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA (PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF POLAND).

Reverse:
The image of John Paul II facing left in a greeting gesture. He is holding his crosier in his hand. On the right, along the rim, the grade of gold: Au 900, and MMX – the year 2010 in Latin. On the left, along the rim, inscriptions: REPLIKA (REPLICA), the symbol of the  designer, and inscription: JAN PAWEŁ II (JOHN PAUL II).

A faithful gold replica of one of the rarest, and therefore most precious collector coins in the history of post-war Poland – the PLN 200,000 John Paul II coin from 1987. It is issued at a very special moment – on the 5th anniversary of the death and the 90th anniversary of the birth of Pope John Paul II, the most distinguished Polish person of the 20th century. The series is limited to only 50 copies struck in gold of the grade 900 and is characterized by the exceptional weight of the coins – 10 ounces (311 g). The coin has been designed by a distinguished medal-maker Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt. In comparison with the original coin, the replica has been decorated with the year of mintage in the official language of the Vatican – MMX (2010), which is a reference to the tradition of the Catholic Church. Thus, the replica of the John Paul II coin, struck with the consent of the National Bank of Poland, is certain to become one of the most precious jewels of even the most extraordinary collections.
