The first set of numismats from the “The Mints of the Polish Lands” series which commemorates the Teutonic Mint in Malbork which was operating at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries.

Two unique numismats encased in a blister in the form of an elegant display packaging. The first one includes a replica of a shilling featuring a rose as a mint sign, the other one – the Malbork Medal featuring a panorama of the castle and the town of Malbork, according to the oldest wood engraved image.

The Teutonic Mint in Malbork fades into the dusk of history and, therefore, details concerning its operation are not well known. However, it is undisputable that during the leadership of Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights Konrad III von Jungingen (1393-1407), shillings signed with letter M were struck in Malbork and were issued between 1404 and 1407. Some researchers claim that the mint in Malbork was operating also in the times of Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen (1407-1410) but his shillings do not bear any mint marks and it is difficult to attribute any of them to this particular mint. Presumably, not long after the Battle of Grunwald in 1410, the mint was also operating in the Castle of Malbork. It is, however, certain that it was operating in the times of Grand Master Ludwik von Erlichshausen (1450-1467) in the years 1454-1456 and it minted shillings featuring a rose as a mint sign.
